Job Summary:
The Department of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery is seeking energetic individuals for full-time Advanced Practice Provider positions for its adult practice. We are seeking multiple open positions at this time, in a variety of subspecialties and practice locations as our department continues to grow! The qualified candidates will be appointed to the rank of Instructor within the Department of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery.
We are seeking one position to be located at the Cherry Creek Medical Center. The provider will practice independently in an outpatient setting, in a shared suite with several subspecialty Otolaryngology MDs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- The advanced practice provider will be expected to support all facets of the outpatient clinical service to include the following: manage new and return patient visits, provide pre-operative and post-operative education and care, and coordination of care with providers within and outside the University setting. This will take place in concert with RN and MA staff already in place.
- The candidate will be trained to perform office-based procedures such as nasal endoscopy, flexible laryngoscopy, minor biopsies and cerumen removal.
We are seeking positions within our head & neck cancer practice to be located at the Anschutz Medical Campus. As an active member of the head & neck surgery team, the candidate will work under the supervision of experienced head & neck surgeons in the outpatient and/or inpatient setting supporting a large academic tertiary referral practice focusing on the management of complex head and neck cancer patients. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- The advanced practice provider will be expected to support all facets of the outpatient clinical service to include the following: manage new and return patient visits, provide pre-operative and post-operative education and care, and coordination of care with providers within and outside the University setting. This will take place in concert with RN and MA staff already in place.
- The candidate will be trained to perform office-based procedures such as fiberoptic laryngoscopy, nasal endoscopy, management of feeding tubes, management of tracheostomy tubes, and office-based procedures such as simple biopsies.
- The advanced practice provider will be expected to support all facets of the inpatient clinical service to include the following: daily rounds, patient orders, inpatient progress notes, obtaining consultations and coordinating inpatient care.
We are seeking additional positions in the outpatient and/or inpatient settings at the Anschutz Medical Campus and surrounding network of care sites. Positions may be within subspecialty practice such as Otology, Rhinology, Facial Plastics, Sleep, or General Otolaryngology. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- For inpatient positions, the advanced practice provider will work under the supervision of the adult faculty otolaryngologists to provide primarily inpatient care, with the potential for occasional outpatient follow-up care. The advanced practice provider will be expected to support all facets of the inpatient clinical service, to include the following:
- Admission of patients during weekday hours.
- Daily rounding on patients with the Chief Resident and resident team and assistance with clinical documentation.
- Discharge planning for patients on service, including care coordination of home health and supplies (such as tracheostomy supplies and care, tube feedings, wound care).
- Consultations, both inpatient and from the emergency department, during weekday hours. Performed bedside procedures, such as endoscopy and biopsy, as appropriate.
- Perform patient and family education as well as obtaining surgical consents, as appropriate.
- Direct communication with nursing, respiratory therapy, social work, consulting services, and other care management teams as well as PCPs is expected.
- For outpatient positions, the advanced practice provider will work under the supervision of the faculty otolaryngologist. The position will be expected to support all facets of the outpatient clinical service to include the following: manage new and return patient visits, provide pre-operative and post-operative education and care, and coordination of care with providers within and outside the University setting. This will take place in concert with RN and MA staff already in place.
- The candidate will be trained to perform office-based procedures such as fiberoptic laryngoscopy, nasal endoscopy, management of feeding tubes, management of tracheostomy tubes, flexible laryngoscopy, minor biopsies, and cerumen removal.
All positions will include the following responsibilities in addition to specialty specific duties and training:
- Provide administrative support and thorough follow-up to ensure orderly, effective, and quality patient care. This may include the development and implementation of educational materials or protocols for staff and patients.
- The candidate will become proficient in the electronic medical record (EPIC) system and be able to chart, obtain data, and use all the communication tools.
- Positions located at the Anschutz Medical Campus may assist in the education of residents, nurses, and medical assistants in the field of otolaryngology.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
- Demonstrated ability to function both independently and in collaboration with other health care professionals.
- Ability to obtain a Colorado PA or NP license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous otolaryngology or surgery ambulatory experience preferred; but if you are qualified, we will train you.
- Ability to work with a variety of health care providers and specialists.
