Job Description
In light of the current situation unfolding across the country and a temporary hiring freeze enacted for the State of Nevada, we unfortunately are in a position where we must postpone our recruitment efforts. We don't currently have a specific timeline for when searches will resume but are hopeful that they will be back underway as quickly as possible. We appreciate your understanding and continued interest in working at Nevada State College.
Nevada State College's School of Education is seeking experienced speech-language pathologists to work with graduate students in our campus supported clinical experiences. Immediate need is requested for summer training activities at both NSC RiteCare clinic (2200 W. Mesquite Avenue, Las Vegas) and on the Henderson NSC campus (1300 Nevada State Drive, Henderson). The 2020 summer program runs May 18-August 8 . Applicants have the option working the full 12 weeks, or 6 week periods (May 18 to June 26 or June 29 to August 8). Areas of expertise in child speech sound and language disorders, adolescent and adult fluency, communication skills in autism spectrum disorders, and adult aphasia. Other interest areas can be considered. Credit hour compensation is based on number of graduate students.
Adjunct faculty members are compensated at the rate of $1,000 per credit hour.
Specific Position Duties :
The tasks include training students on test tools and therapy approaches in pre-meetings, direct supervision with written and oral feedback, and helping students develop clinical skills. In addition, the supervisor is working under his/her SLP license and is responsible for the clients. Supervision is required at 25-50% of direct client session. New clinicians/clients may require 100% at onset. Requirements also include completion of documentation, and electronic entry for clinical hours and student evaluation. Some Simulated learning could also be implemented. We are a new program, and the clinical activities are in development. We value your expertise to help build the program. Applicants will need to complete 2 hours of supervisory training, (if not already obtained), as required by ASHA standards. The training can be provided by NSC via CAPCSD. NSC offers liability insurance while working in our settings

Required Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- American Speech-Language Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence
- State of Nevada Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology & Hearing Aid Dispensing Board License for Speech-Language Pathology
- At least 2 years of clinical speech-language pathology experience at Master's level
Preferred Qualifications:
- Clinical supervision experience
- Experience working with diverse student populations
